Region XXIV Opens the Season with Strong Preseason National Rankings
Region XXIV made an early statement on the national stage as multiple baseball and softball programs earned recognition in the NJCAA preseason polls, setting the tone for another competitive spring across the region.
Baseball
In Division I baseball, John A. Logan College opened the season ranked No. 11, establishing itself as one of the nation’s top preseason contenders. Lake Land College also appeared in the D1 poll at No. 21, giving Region XXIV two teams inside the Top 25 before the first pitch is thrown.
Division II baseball featured another strong showing, with Heartland Community College debuting at No. 4 nationally. Parkland College followed at No. 15, adding further depth to the region’s preseason outlook.
Softball
Region XXIV was also well-represented in the Division II softball preseason rankings. Parkland College checked in at No. 16, while Illinois Central College rounded out the region’s presence at No. 22, signaling a competitive year ahead on the diamond.
